A horrific avalanche has struck near the iconic ski resort of Zermatt in Switzerland, claiming the lives of three individuals, including an American teenager. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, April 2, leaving the mountain community in mourning and shock.
Deadly Snowfall
According to Swiss police, the avalanche struck a group of skiers in the Haute Route area, a popular off-piste route for experienced skiers. The force of the snowfall was immense, burying the victims under several meters of debris. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, but it was too late for the three individuals.
The victims have been identified as an 18-year-old American woman, a 20-year-old Swiss man, and a 22-year-old Swiss woman. Their names have not been released at this time out of respect for their families.
